More Bear Sightings In Somerset County

More bear sightings have been reported in Bernardsville and Watchung.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Two more bear sightings were reported in Somerset County on Monday.

John McCrossan, a Mine Mount Road resident in Bernardsville, told Patch he saw a bear on Monday around 6 p.m. He reported it to the police that night.

"I was in my car driving on Mine Mount Road when the bear crossed 20 feet in front of me," McCrossan said. "Last, the bear was not aggressive at the time I saw it. I must tell you it’s black fur coat was beautiful and the animal was majestic."

Watchung Police also reported bear sightings in the area of Washington Rock Road and Mountain Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

It is unclear whether it is the same bear moving through the area.
