Jersey Climate Action to Mark Anniversary of Superstorm Sandy
As we mark the first anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, learn what you can do to save energy, money and the
environment at a public forum on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m. The
free program will be held at the People Care Center, 120 Finderne Ave.
in Bridgewater, NJ.
The Jersey Climate Action forum occurs
just a few weeks after the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change released its latest report concluding with virtual
certainty that global warming is occurring and that human
activities are "the dominant cause" of global warming and its impacts:
extreme weather events, rising ocean temperatures and sea levels and
melting polar ice caps. The Nobel Prize-winning panel is comprised of
thousands of scientists and reviewers from more than 100 countries and
is recognized as the definitive source on these issues.
Featured speakers include the following energy and climate experts:
- Jeff Deyette - Union of Concerned Scientists
- Jeanne Fox - Commissioner, NJ Board of Public Utilities
- Ed Schwartz - Energy Sustainability Professional
- Christine Guhl - Sierra Club Field Organizer, Beyond Coal Campaign
- Jack Shapiro - Deputy Climate Campaign Manager for Organizing for Action
