Remember the Ladies!

Carol Simon Levin will perform a "collective biography" highlighting influential women and events in American history.

On Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00 pm, Carol Simon Levin will present “Remember the Ladies" at Bernardsville Public Library. Dressed as Abigail Adams, Ms. Levin will perform a “collective biography” highlighting influential women and events in American history. From Adams, who famously wrote to her husband John asking that the Continental Congress “remember the ladies,” Ms. Levin will look ahead to Dolly Madison and then to the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, to the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote, and to pioneering women politicians.

Carol Simon Levin is a Youth Services Librarian, author, storyteller and program presenter based in Bridgewater, NJ. Her recently published coloring book, “Remember the Ladies,” will be available for purchase after the library program. Designed to make history accessible to everyone from eight to 108-year-olds, this book tells the story of the struggle for women’s political rights in this country through coloring pages and lively profiles of sixty-nine courageous and tenacious women.

Ms. Levin has always been particularly fascinated by women’s history. Whether she is impersonating the woman who helped to build the Brooklyn Bridge, telling the amazing stories of early women in aviation, expanding on the mathematical and artistic possibilities of a simple square, or sharing the story of a dolphin who learned to swim with an artificial tail, she always strives to create exciting programs that engage her audience’s interests and expand their horizons. She is a member of the New Jersey Storytelling Guild, the New Jersey Library Association, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
