3 Stolen Cars In Bloomfield, All Were Left Running: Police

Here's where the latest car thefts took place in Bloomfield, authorities say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Three car thefts were recently reported in Bloomfield; the vehicles were left running in each case, police said.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each theft.

Feb. 1 - Officers responded to 672 Bloomfield Avenue on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner of the vehicle pulled in front of his destination and stepped away from his gray 2016 Chrysler 300. He left the car unattended and running. As he was walking on the sidewalk, he turned around and observed a white, four-door sedan pull up next to his vehicle. He then observed the suspect enter his vehicle flee the area. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen and later recovered in Newark.

Feb. 2 – Officers responded to 171 Bloomfield Avenue (Auto Zone) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner left his blue 2008 Honda Civic running while he went inside the Auto Zone. Upon returning, he noticed his vehicle was missing. A bicycle was recovered at the scene that a possible suspect was utilizing prior to taking the vehicle. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 6 - Officers responded to the area of Chester Avenue on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner parked his vehicle outside Chunchi Bakery, left the vehicle running with the doors locked. He went inside to buy food and when he came outside, he discovered his vehicle was being driven away. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
