BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A suspect in two attempted burglaries in Bloomfield was found dead in a hotel, police announced Wednesday.

On Dec. 22, Bloomfield officers responded to 936 Broad Street (Temple Ner Tamid) after getting a report about an attempted burglary. Here’s what happened, authorities previously said:

“The complainant arrived at the temple at 8 a.m. and noticed a screen was taken off a window and the window was cracked. Upon review of surveillance video, the complainant observed that the prior evening at 8:38 p.m., a white U-Haul truck pulled up and a male attempted to open several doors to the building, but was unsuccessful in gaining entry. The male then picked up a rock and walked toward the area where the window damage was found. The male then entered the truck and fled the scene. This incident is under investigation.”

Another attempted burglary took place on the same day, when someone tried to pry the door open at the Brookside Garden Center at 551 Broad Street, police said.
