Bloomfield: Cops Arrest Suspect in Hit-and-Run on Garden State Parkway

Jersey City woman allegedly stopped, then drove away after hitting a 63-year-old man while he changed his tire.

State police arrested a woman who they say put a 63-year-old Perth Amboy man in the hospital after striking him during a hit-and-run encounter on the Garden State Parkway in Bloomfield.

On Thursday, a week after the incident took place, police arrested Usha Govindarajulu, 43, of Jersey City, in connection with the crime.

According to police, Govindarajulu struck the man with her car as he was changing his tire.

Police stated that she briefly stopped her car before driving away.

Govindarajulu was charged with assault by auto and leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury. She is being held at Essex County Jail on $50,000 bail with a 10 percent option.
