BLOOMFIELD, NJ — How many tickets did the Bloomfield Police Department write during its recent DWI checkpoint on Bloomfield Avenue?
In response to “statistics demonstrating a disproportionate number of drunk driving incidents in the area,” the Bloomfield Police Department held a DWI checkpoint from 11 p.m. on Friday, May 5 to 3 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 at Bloomfield Avenue and North 16th Street, authorities said.
Police said that they hoped the DWI checkpoint helped to raise awareness of impaired driving by educating motorist and arresting impaired drivers.

During the May 5 operation, officers arrested three people, impounded one vehicle and issued 50 summonses, authorities stated.
