Bloomfield Council Promotes Fire Officials
The Bloomfield Township Council appoint two new deputy fire chiefs and one new fire captain
The Bloomfield township council unanimously appointed two new deputy fire chiefs and a new fire captain during Monday's municipal meeting. Dozens of people filled the township hall to support the new deputy chiefs John Gehringer and Thomas Malkinski and fire captain Joseph Coletta.

- The township council also appointed Julio Morejon to be the new assistant prosecutor and John Clayborne to be the deputy court administrator.

- Township officials agreed in a 4-2 vote to purchase six new Crown Victoria cars and one Sports Utility Vehicle to replace old police patrol vehicles. The new vehicles will cost $230,640. Councilmen Nick Joanow and Robert Ruane cast the objecting votes. Joanow said his concern was the safety of the Crown Victoria fuel tanks.
- Township officials amended the township code to create an advisory committee to investigate rent control.
