Bloomfield Home ‘Ransacked’ For $112,000 In Proceeds: Police
Burglars "ransacked" a home in Bloomfield while the owner and his family were away, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Burglars “ransacked” a home in Bloomfield while the owner and his family were away last week, making off with $112,000 in proceeds, police announced Thursday.
Bloomfield officers responded to a home on New Street on July 31 after getting a report about a burglary.
According to police, the owner and his family left the home for a few hours. When they returned, the saw that the back door and screen were open.

The victim said $112,000 in items were missing, including a Rolex watch, Thailand currency, gold jewelry and several purses.
One of the tenant’s apartments was also ransacked, police said.

A police investigation continues; no additional information was immediately available.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
Bloomfield officers also responded to a report of an attempted burglary on July 27.
Police released the following statement about the incident, which took place on Belleville Avenue:
“According to the complainant, at approximately 9 a.m., she observed the suspect coming down from her private office. The complainant then reviewed surveillance cameras and observed the male walking up to the office where he pried open the door and gained entry. The complainant is unsure if anything was taken from office at this time. This incident is under investigation.”
