Bloomfield Lights Town Hall In Colors Of Ukraine Flag
"Powerful!" one person said of the display in Bloomfield.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — “The Township of Bloomfield stands with the people of Ukraine.” This was the reason why local residents recently saw town hall glowing blue and yellow, officials say.
Bloomfield officials shared a photo of the show of solidarity with Ukraine, which can be seen below. The death toll continues to rise in the European nation after Russia invaded it on Feb. 24.
The display inspired pride in Bloomfield, several commenters wrote. “Thank you for sharing this!” one person stated. “Powerful!” another commented.

The ongoing conflict has hit close to home for some Bloomfield residents, including Satenik Margarya, one of many New Jerseyans with relatives living in Ukraine.
“We are worried and feel helpless … our relatives have absolutely nowhere to go, the food is running out, and the Russians are bombing constantly,” Margarya said. “I go to sleep late to make sure Ukraine and my relatives made it through the night. I wake up early in the morning and check right away for the news from Ukraine.”

Other towns in New Jersey have put on similar display of solidarity with Ukraine, such as Nutley, where the board of commissioners recently voted to change the lighting on the township's buildings to blue and yellow.
