In Bloomfield: Looking to Dispose of E-Waste?

Essex County will host a free electronics and computer recycling event on Saturday.

Got computer waste?

Essex County and the Essex County Utilities Authority will host the annual “Computer and Electronics Recycling Day” on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Old Essex County Hospital Center, 125 Fairview Ave., in Cedar Grove.

“Recycling computer hardware and electronic devices helps remove lead and other dangerous chemicals from our waste stream,” Essex County Executive DiVincenzo stated in a release.

Items being accepted at the Computer and Electronics Recycling Day are computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, telecom equipment, speakers, televisions, keyboards, main frames, VCRs, stereos, DVD players, toasters, irons and cellular telephones.

Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms will not be accepted.

The event is open to Essex County residents only. Residents are not charged when they bring materials, but they must provide proof of residency at the site. Commercial businesses may not drop off materials.
