ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Bloomfield resident was accused of burglarizing a car in Glen Ridge – and possibly another vehicle in the area – after he led police on a foot chase early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, an Outlook Place resident told police about a potential burglary at 2:25 a.m. after his phone notified him about a person walking in his driveway.

A Glen Ridge police officer arrived at the scene and started searching for a suspect. While checking another residence on the block, the officer saw a man later identified as Akeem Williams, 20, of Bloomfield, who was inside a parked vehicle in the driveway.

When the officer approached Williams, he fled on foot towards Essex Avenue, police said.
