A Bloomfield police officer fatally shot a knife-wielding man after responding to an alleged domestic violence incident, authorities say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding man after arriving on the scene of an alleged domestic violence incident on Friday morning, authorities say.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards Bureau stated that the police-involved shooting took place shortly after 8 a.m. on Friday morning at a Greenbrook Drive home, as Bloomfield police officers responded to a 911 call of a domestic violence incident.
Prosecutors said that police arriving on the scene found a female suffering from apparent stab wounds, as well as a male armed with a knife. The officers attempted to disarm the man - later identified as Leroy Frank, 60 - but he allegedly lunged towards them, causing one officer to discharge his weapon.
