Bloomfield Promotes Louis Venezia To Fire Chief

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield has a new fire chief: Louis Venezia.

Venezia – the brother of Mayor Michael Venezia – was promoted to his new position at an event earlier this week at the Bloomfield Council Chambers that also included promotions for several other local firefighters.

During the July 10 promotional ceremony, Thomas Wilson formally moved to the position of fire official, Martin Kaczmarczyk and Robert Griffin were named fire captains, and Robert Barra and Brian McDade were named deputy fire chiefs.

Venezia previously served as BFD deputy chief. He was recently reinstated after being suspended last year. A municipal investigation cleared him of charges that he allegedly mistreated local firefighters with derogatory comments and excessive training.
