Bloomfield residents head to the polls on Tuesday. Nov. 5 to vote in the 2019 general election. See local results here.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield residents headed to the polls for the 2019 general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. In addition to statehouse races and a county freeholder seat, voters cast ballots for mayor, the town council and the board of education.

There were seven candidates competing for three seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education. Terms last for three years.
According to the Essex County Clerk’s Office, as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 34 of 35 districts have been reported. The unofficial results are:

- Daniel Anderson - 1,713 (16.69%)
- Jill Fischman - 1,865 (18.17%)
- Laura Izurieta - 831 (8.1%)
- Lillian Mancheno - 1,316 (12.82%)
- Satenik Margaryan - 1,162 (11.32%)
- Benjamin Morse - 1,670 (16.27%)
- Emily Smith - 1,685 (16.42%)
Earlier this year, the Essex County Clerk's office announced that the 2019 Bloomfield Board of Education election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as planned, despite the board's recent decision to move its elections to April.

"The Bloomfield Board of Education does not have the authority to supersede state law and stop the election process once it has been started," Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin said. "Furthermore, I cannot in good conscience disenfranchise the candidacies of the seven Bloomfield candidates who took the time to gather signatures from residents, timely submit their petitions and start their campaigns."
MAYOR
Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia ran uncontested as a Democratic Party member in 2019.
According to the Essex County Clerk’s Office, as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 34 of 35 districts have been reported. The unofficial results are:
- Michael Venezia - 4,156 (98.25%)
- Write-In - 74 (1.75%)
TOWN COUNCIL
There were three town council seats up for grabs in Bloomfield. The three candidates - each Democratic Party members - ran unopposed.
According to the Essex County Clerk’s Office, as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 34 of 35 districts have been reported. The unofficial results are:
- Wartyna Nina Davis - 3,981 (34.1%)
- Ted Gamble - 3,804 (32.58%)
- Richard Rockwell - 3,826 (32.77%)
- Write In - 64 (0.55%)
