Bloomfield Shakes A Leg, Starts To Reopen Parks, Tennis Courts
Bloomfield fitness centers and gyms that would like to use township fields can do so immediately, but need a permit, officials said.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield is slowly reopening from its coronavirus shutdown, and local gyms and fitness centers now have a way to get back in the game – sort of, officials announced Tuesday.
On the same day that Gov. Phil Murphy made his own announcement that New Jersey's stay-at-home order has been lifted, Bloomfield officials said fitness centers and gyms that would like to use township fields can do so immediately.
Bloomfield fitness centers and gyms that would like to use township fields must submit a permit here. The permit fee for gyms and fitness centers will be waived. Bloomfield sports organizations, fitness centers and gyms must also submit, in writing, the policies and procedures that will be implemented to ensure that the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Health are followed while using township facilities. Proof of insurance is also required.

“In Bloomfield, we are fortunate to have some of the most outstanding recreation areas in the county and we want residents to be able to take advantage of them,” Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia said.
“As a result of COVID-19, there have been restrictions placed on use of our parks and the municipal tennis courts have been closed,” Venezia continued. “We are slowly lifting restrictions on recreation with guidance from the CDC and the state, but I implore residents to continue to practice social distancing and to wear a mask to keep you and others safe.”
