Bloomfield Woman Wins Shark-Tank Style Competition

Bloomfield businesswoman Bettina Peets won 1st place at the Women's Center for Entrepreneurship's annual Business Plan Competition.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield businesswoman Bettina Peets won first place at the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship’s annual Business Plan Competition, a news release stated.

Peets won $1,500 for her business, Adventures for the Soul, in the WCEC’s Shark Tank-style business pitch panel, according to the release.

The program, funded through a grant by the New Jersey Office of Faith Based Initiatives, is an annual competition during which aspiring women entrepreneurs complete a set amount of training classes. For this competition, Peets completed 32 hours of classes and business counseling.

Classes included business planning, QuickBooks, credit, marketing, sales and public speaking, the release stated.

At the conclusion, Peets and other WCEC clients submitted their application with a business plan and financial forecast for review. The top three business plans were selected for an opportunity to pitch, Shark Tank- style, for placement to a panel of judges.

Peets' company, Adventures for the Soul, provides women with amazing single or multi-day retreats that allow them to revive, renew and rediscover their best selves with new adventures and wellness workshops.

According to Peets, the resources that the WCEC provided her have given her the opportunity to have “grown tremendously as a professional, entrepreneur and as a person.”

With her winnings, Peets bought new camping gear for a camping retreat that she plans on having when the weather gets warmer.
