Earth Day and Arbor Day at Berkeley School

This week we’re celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day. Our Student Council, with the generous support of Home Depot, helped students in K-2 plant seeds this week. The students were allowed to pick a vegetable or flower to plant. The students also signed an Earth Day pledge. The student council members in 5^th and 6^th grade generously gave up their recess time to help the younger students plant their seedlings. (Student Council advisors are Mrs. Rogers and Ms. McCall.)

The students are also holding a penny war to raise funds for the Defenders of Wildlife Foundation. The students are going to adopt an endangered animal. The class that collects the most pennies during the penny war gets to host the stuffed animal representation of our endangered adoptee.

For Arbor Day, the students helped fundraise to plant a tree on the front lawn of Berkeley Elementary. The students planted a Japanese Maple tree. Representatives from various grades helped plant the tree for future Berkeley generations.
