Car Stolen From Bloomfield, Crashed In Essex Fells: Police

Three juveniles crashed a stolen car in Essex County, authorities said. They are accused of trying to burglarize vehicles.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Three juvenile suspects crashed a car last weekend in Essex Fells that was stolen out of Bloomfield. The juveniles – who are accused of trying to burglarize vehicles – were arrested and face several criminal charges, authorities said.

The Essex Fells Police Department released a statement about the arrests, which took place on May 6, and included assistance from police in Caldwell, Fairfield, North Caldwell and Verona.

“Officer Brogan and Officer Milone were dispatched to a residence on Fells Road for individuals attempting to burglarize their vehicles. While checking the surrounding streets Officer Brogan witnessed two individuals running out of a driveway on Devon Road and enter a vehicle, later found to have been stolen out of Bloomfield. The stolen vehicle took off at a high rate of speed to elude Officer Brogan. The stolen vehicle ultimately crashed and three suspects bailed out. All three juvenile suspects were apprehended.”

Police charged the juveniles with eluding, criminal attempt to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
