Celestial Space Medi-Spa Opens in Bloomfield
The combination of feel-good massage and holistic healing offers Bloomfield a new concept in organic and holistic self care.
Celestial Space Medi-Spa opened this week in Bloomfield and it was like a party, with guests mingling in colorfully-decorated rooms, drinking wine, eating h’ors-deourvres and being entertained by – yes – a belly dancer.
But there was also a feeling of calm and serenity for the guests who, oblivious to the party going on around them, sat blissfully receiving Reike treatments and massages.

“The name Celestial Space Medi-Spa stands for the connection between the medicinal and holistic side of massage therapy,” explained owner Marleny Cruz, who wore a deep red gown for the occasion and happliy conversed with her guests. “I don’t only focus on the modalities of massage therapy, I also provide yoga, meditation, Rakei and other forms of holistic energy healing.”
Cruz said she aims to provide a unique service forher customers that combines the feel-good elements of massage with a holistic, healing approach to the treatments.

“I’ve always been into holistic medicine and alternative medicine,” she said. “I have a strong background in medical massage. I used to work alongside an acupuncturist, a physical therapist, a hypnotist, a chiropractor and a nutritionist.
"From there I moved to Nutley, where I worked with a psychologist. So I’ve always been around a team of practitioners. It’s how I work best.”
Celestial Space Medi-Spa is located at 17 James Street, in the little shopping complex across from Foley Field. The bright but narrow space, which features a two-story ceiling, is divided into massage and treatment rooms, each possessing an elegant, tranquil feeling.
Mayor McCarthy and Council Carlos Bernard were among the officials who attended the opening.
“It’s great to have new young business owners opening up in town. This is going to be a good thing for Bloomfield,” smiled Bernard. “We have to support our local business owners. They could open up a business anywhere but they chose here.”
“I’m coming back here on Friday,” he added. “I really need a massage!”
The Celestial Space Medi-Spa is located at 17 James Street, Building 8, across from Foley Field/JFK Parkway in Bloomfield.
