Couple Finds Ideal 'Work-Life' Balance at Prism's Parkway Lofts in Bloomfield, N.J.
Industrial-Inspired Community Attracts Dual-Career Families in Search of Maintenance-Free Lifestyle

A generation ago, it would have been hard to imagine dual-career families living anywhere but a sprawling house in the suburbs. But today, that’s all changing as an increasing number of couples are abandoning home maintenance tasks and crowded commutes in favor of the enviable resort-at-home lifestyle found at luxury rental communities like Parkway Lofts in Bloomfield.
When Jessica and Nathan Schmidt decided to relocate from a single-family rental home in Mountainside, New Jersey, their apartment search ultimately led them to Parkway Lofts. Since opening late last fall, the industrial-inspired community has attracted a steady number of two-career couples who, like the Schmidts, are drawn to the community’s low-maintenance lifestyle and unrivaled commuting convenience.
Jessica Schmidt, who works in the book publishing industry in NYC, said she and Nathan, an adjunct professor, had certain requirements for their new apartment. “I commute into New York City and Nathan travels throughout the tri-state area. We also have two dogs, so our new apartment had to be pet-friendly, and near public transportation and major highways,” she said. “It also was important to strike a better balance between our careers and daily living. Renting a house came with weekly lawn care, snow removal and other household chores. Living at Parkway Lofts gives us the freedom to do what we want, rather than worry about home maintenance.”

After just one visit to Parkway Lofts, the Schmidts immediately liked what they saw. “Having NJ Transit’s Watsessing Avenue Station just steps away from the building was almost too good to be true. And, we loved how friendly everyone was in the leasing office. It was a warm and welcoming environment, and the staff was very knowledgeable. They answered all our questions and made the whole process absolutely seamless,” said Jessica Schmidt.
The Schmidts chose one of Parkway Lofts’ spacious one-bedroom layouts. “It has a very big living space with an open floor plan, which allowed us to furnish it just the way we wanted. We absolutely love all the unique architectural details and how sound-proof the apartment is; you literally can hear a pin drop. Even though we are living in a vibrant community with tons of on-site amenities and a wonderful mix of tenants, there’s so much privacy that it feels as if we are in our own home. We love everything about our new apartment and lifestyle,” concluded Jessica Schmidt.

All-Encompassing Luxury Lifestyle
Blending cutting-edge industrial design with state-of-the-art amenities, Parkway Lofts redefines luxury urban living. Prism Capital Partners LLC redeveloped this landmark six-story warehouse building - originally built by the General Electric Co. in 1915 - into 361 beautifully appointed loft-style apartments. Modern-classic apartments include a mix of spacious studio, one- and two-bedroom loft-style and duplex residences. Monthly rents start from the $1,500s.
Floor plans feature 17- and 12-foot ceilings soaring above exposed columns and beams; abundant natural light and unique industrial accents; views of the Manhattan skyline and Watchung Mountains from 13-foot insulated windows; designer kitchens with Quartz countertops, stainless-steel appliances, custom wood cabinetry and glass-tile backsplashes; and lavish bathrooms with ceramic-tile flooring and porcelain surrounds.
Along with turnkey convenience, the building’s resort-style amenities include a 24/7 attended lobby; a gracious rooftop deck with fire pit and ample comfortable seating; a 5,000-square-foot, two-level state-of-the-art fitness center; a 20-seat large-screen theater room; a private party and billiards room with a 14-foot bar, televisions and tufted banquettes; a dog run; and a 24-hour resident-only convenience store.
Along with a washer/dryer in each apartment unit, residents also have access to larger commercial-style laundry facilities and storage lockers on each floor. A secure parking garage and additional in-building and surface parking ensure ample vehicle accommodations for residents and their guests.
Location and convenience are the cornerstones upon which Parkway Lofts was built. The community is located directly off Exit 148 of the Garden State Parkway and is easily accessible to the New Jersey Turnpike, and routes 3 and 46, providing easy access to anywhere in the Garden State or throughout the tri-state region. Commuting to New York City is easy with NJ Transit’s Watsessing Avenue Station located just 1,000 feet from the development. Parkway Lofts is within minutes of higher education, area hospitals, restaurants, shopping and services.
“Parkway Lofts offers an unrivaled combination of style, presence and value that renters simply can’t find anywhere else,” said Edwin Cohen, Prism’s principal partner. “Residents here enjoy the benefits of a brand-new maintenance-free apartment home, along with a full complement resort-style comforts and conveniences. It’s exciting to see the community come to life as more residents move in and begin enjoying the amenity-rich lifestyle we’ve created.”
Parkway Lofts’ on-site leasing center is located at 5 Lawrence St. in Bloomfield and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointments are necessary. For more information, contact the leasing center at (201) 308-8200.
