COVID Death Update In Bloomfield: Nursing Home, Town Totals

How many deaths have been linked to the coronavirus in Bloomfield? And how many of those took place in local nursing homes?

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Authorities released the latest coronavirus death totals for Bloomfield and its nursing homes on Thursday.

According to Essex County officials, the entire town of Bloomfield has seen 974 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 56 deaths linked to the disease, a 5.7 percent fatality rate.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, there were 142,704 confirmed cases statewide with 9,946 deaths, a 6.9 percent fatality rate.

BLOOMFIELD NURSING HOMES

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, Bloomfield's nursing and retirement homes have seen 59 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 13 deaths linked to the disease: a 22 percent fatality rate.

The totals included:

  • Job Haines Home - 56 cases, 13 deaths
  • Parkview Boarding Home - 3 cases, zero deaths

Statewide, there were 27,153 cases of the virus at nursing homes, retirement homes and other long-term care facilities, with 5,168 deaths linked to the disease: a 19 percent fatality rate.
