Essex County Commemorates Irish Heritage

Cedar Grove, Bloomfield residents among those honored

On Wednesday, March 18, at noon, Essex County will host the 12th Annual Essex County Irish Heritage Celebration at the Essex County Hall of Records, 465 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., in Newark.

During this year’s program, the county will honor the Kevin J. O’Toole, the New Jersey State Senator representing the 40th District, and Robert O’Toole, Cedar Grove councilman, with the Essex County Irishmen of the Year Award.

The county will honor Margaret “Peggy” O’Boyle Dunigan, former Bloomfield councilwoman, with the Essex County Irishwoman of the Year Award.

According to a release, the Irish Heritage event recognizes the impact Irish men and women have had on the cultural, civic, political, law enforcement and economic history of the county.

The event will include bagpipers and entertainment, stated the release.
