A Patch of Blue

Selina D'Arcy (Elizabeth Hartman), a blind white teenager, lives with her verbally and physically abusive, as well as racist, mother (Shelley Winters). Allowed to go to the park to string beads into necklaces, Selina develops a special friendship with Gordon, (Sidney Poiter) an educated Northerner she has never seen. Nominated for 5 Oscars, this touching film won a Best Supporting Actress award for Winters
