An American girl (Amanda Seyfried) on vacation in Italy with her inattentive fiancé (Gael Garcia Bernal ) finds an unanswered "letter tJuliet" in the fictional heroine's Verona courtyard. She goes on a quest to find the lovers (Vanessa Redgrave & Franco Nero ) described in the letter and finds more than she ever expected.
