Ricard Reiter’s Spiritual Drum Circle Workshop will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2pm in the library’s Little Theatre. Join us at the Bloomfield Public Library for a joyous celebration of drumming, teamwork, and fun! Have a great time celebrating rhythm with Richard Reiter's "Spiritual Drum Circle" workshop.
Participants drum together in this exhilarating and unifying activity. Reiter, a nationally acclaimed jazz musician, studied African drumming in Senegal and he brings many drums and percussion instruments for everyone to use (but bring yours if you have something percussive: drums, shakers, rattles as well as any household objects that make intriguing sounds). No musical training is necessary! Spiritual Drumming helps people experience a closeness with their fellow drummers and feel more exuberant about being powerfully alive. Everyone drums together, no musical training necessary! This workshop is for everyone – children, teens, families, adults, and anyone who wants to take part in a fun, uplifting experience.
This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and administered by the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
