Football Time: Bloomfield Faces Annual Test

Bloomfield facing Montclair in Thanksgiving week classic

 

Investors Bank is spicing up the annual Thanksgiving football game that pits the Bloomfield High School Bengals (6-3) against the Montclair High School Mounties (9-0). After competing for the Investors Bank Cup, the winner will keep the trophy until the Bengals and the Montclair Mounties meet on the gridiron next year. For over 80 years, the Bengals and Mounties have faced each other in the Thanksgiving football classic that is now sponsored by Investors. 

This year, the game will kick off at Foley Field on Thanksgiving eve, Wednesday, November 23 at 6 p.m. Tickets, which are available at the field, cost $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.

Immediately after the game, Investors President and CEO Kevin Cummings and managers of the bank’s branches in Bloomfield and Montclair will present the cup to the coach and captains of the winning team. Also, Cummings will recognize the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game from the Bengals and Mounties. During each team’s end-of-the-season awards ceremony, the MVP will receive a $500 scholarship from thebBank.

“We are honoring all the coaches, players and fans who are part of the grand football traditions in Bloomfield and Montclair high schools," Cummings said. "Our bank is grateful that the athletic directors and coaches at both schools asked us to participate in their Thanksgiving game.”
