GSA-Nutley Participates in Hour of Code during Computer Science Education Week
Students of Good Shepherd Academy participate in Hour of Code, a journey to learn more about technology and creating software applications.
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works.
That’s why our school (grades 3 through 8) is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8-14). Last year, 15 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we’re joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students!
The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. When they finish each tutorial, the students earn a certificate (example shown below). The Hour of Code is just the first step on a journey to learn more about how technology works and how to create software applications.
