Help Bloomfield Businesses Recover From Ida; Fundraiser Started

The Bloomfield Center Alliance is spearheading a fundraiser to help businesses recover from Hurricane Ida. Here's what you need to know.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — An online fundraiser is helping local businesses in Bloomfield to recover from Hurricane Ida.

In response to the damage wrought by Tropical Storm Ida, the Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) has started a GoFundMe page with the goal of rallying the community and raising funds to help those hardest-hit downtown businesses.

As of Monday, the fundraiser has seen nearly $2,500 in donations. Learn more or make a donation here.

According to the BCA:

“A number of stores/restaurants were forced to close for one or more days in the aftermath due to flood damage and loss of equipment/inventory. The BCA’s goal is to provide financial assistance needed to cover unexpected costs related to cleanup, loss in revenue, and other items not covered by insurance … All funds raised will be distributed to businesses who request assistance and submit a formal application.”

The fundraising campaign kicked off earlier this month with a benefit concert by Bloomfield’s own Bobby Valli, who performed at downtown’s Six Points Plaza as part of the organization’s weekly al fresco dining series, “Dinner Under the Stars.”
