Jackson Browne Plays Sold-Out Show at the Wellmont
Crowd packs the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair for acoustic show.
The crowd at Montclair's Wellmont Theatre was familiar with Jackson Browne's music and their homage stretched from his early days in the 70s to his most recent songs.
Browne captivated the crowd for the 2 1/2-hour show Saturday night, singing a medley of songs, accompanied with only a selection of acoustic guitars and a keyboard.
Fans yelled out "Happy Birthday" to the music sensation, who traced his roots to the mid-60s folk clubs in Los Angeles and Orange County, California. Browne delighted his audience with some of his most famous songs, including "The Pretender" and "Running on Empty."

But many of his songs were more recent hits, from acoustic albums he released after 2000. Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
He poked fun at some of the steps in the long journey of his musical career, joking with the audience that if he were to play his hit song, "Cocaine" he would have to add the verses he learned in rehab, growing more somber as he recalled losing friends to drug addiction over the years.
