Bloomfield Architecture: 1880s to 1920s
Bloomfield historian Rich Rockwell will provide
an armchair tour of historic photos of houses from the 1880s to the 1920s. The
presentation, with then-and-now comparisons, will focus on styles of architecture,
building trends, remodeling trends and preservation efforts in Bloomfield’s Historic District and near-by
neighborhoods. Rockwell is a member of the Historical Society of Bloomfield and
has been involved with the Bloomfield Bicentennial Committee, Friends of the
Collins House and the newly-formed Bloomfield Morris Canal Greenway Committee.
He has also been a long-time member of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation. He has conducted a variety of presentations on Bloomfield’s history including walking tours of
the Morris Canal and bus tours of historic sites.
