Man’s Date (And Car) Disappear At Bloomfield IHOP: Police

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — He thought that he’d take his date to the local IHOP to pick up some food, police say. But he didn’t count on her disappearing… along with his car.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers took a stolen vehicle report on March 18 from a man who claimed that someone stole his car from the parking lot of the IHOP restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue.

The victim told officers that he was on a date with a woman that he’d just met online. He said he parked in the IHOP lot, then went inside to pick up some food, leaving his female companion in the car. When he returned, his date – and his car – were missing, police said.

“Attempts to contact this female yielded negative results,” Bloomfield police stated.

Police entered the car into the NCIC as a stolen vehicle. An investigation into the alleged theft continues.
