Montclair State, Bloomfield College Merger Takes Another Step Forward
The merger between Montclair State and Bloomfield College would be the first between a public university and a private college in NJ.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A merger between Montclair State University and Bloomfield College – the first between a public university and a private college – continues to move along in Essex County.
New Jersey Senate and Assembly committees recently advanced a bill approving the merger, with the Senate moving it on June 12 and the Assembly moving theirs on June 5. Full votes in the Legislature will still be needed.
The primary sponsors of the bills are based in Essex County: Teresa Ruiz and Renee Burgess in the Senate, and Britnee Timberlake, Eliana Pintor Marin and Mila Jasey in the Assembly.
