Motorcyclist Leads Bloomfield Cops on High Speed Chase

Police trap the Essex County man in a dead end factory complex.

A motorcyclist on a 2006 Honda led Bloomfield police on a high speed chase through town on June 3, ultimately getting trapped in a dead end factory complex.

A Bloomfield police officer attempted to pull the rider over around 10:14 p.m., after allegedly witnessing him speeding westbound on Bloomfield Avenue.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Jason Hall, 29, of Newark, ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over and fled down Montgomery Street at a “high rate of speed.”

Hall drove across Mill Street and got trapped in a dead end factory complex, but decided not to give up, making a U-turn and trying to squeeze past the officer’s car before being headed off and apprehended.

Police charged Hall with second degree eluding, and issued him traffic summonses for speeding, two counts of improper passing, four counts of failure to observe a traffic signal, failure to observe a stop sign, improper license plate display, driving while suspended, driving with an expired license, unsafe lane change and making an improper turn.

Hall’s bail was set at $25,000, with court dates pending for the criminal and motor vehicle charges.
