Music Scholarships Available at Newark School of the Arts

Auditions announced for talent-based scholarships

The Newark School of the Arts (NSA) has announced that auditions will be held for Fall 2011 Scholarships.  Musical performance students with a minimum of 2 years of previous music study are eligible for these talent-based scholarships. 

NSA provides group and private training in the visual and performing arts for people of all ages and economic situations.  Students of voice, string, woodwind, percussion, brass and piano may audition on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Newark School of the Arts, 89 Lincoln Park in Newark.  Auditions must be scheduled by calling 973-642-0133 or visiting www.newarkschoolofthearts.org.

“I encourage students from a variety of backgrounds and locations to come out to audition for these scholarships,” said Dara Falco, the school’s Executive Director. “NSA has a long history of providing affordable and accessible training in the performing arts to students throughout our state. This year we have students enrolled from as far south as Freehold, west to Morristown and from the Bronx, N.Y.

The school’s location is easily accessible by public transportation, and provides safe, secure off-street parking.
