NJ Family Named March of Dimes Ambassadors

The New Jersey Chapter of the March of Dimes is proud to announce the Herman family of South River, NJ as 2016 March for Babies Ambassadors.

On Sunday, May 1, hundreds will gather for March for Babies at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield to benefit the March of Dimes. March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest fundraiser, helps fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies. Leading the festivities will be the event's Ambassadors Michael and Victoria Herman and son Jack, who will be walking to honor the memory of their son Luke and the accomplishments of their son Jack. They will share the story of twins Jack and Luke’s premature birth and thank walkers for their commitment to the March of Dimes mission to give all babies a healthy start.

Jack and Luke were born premature on April 14, 2014. Sadly, Luke passed 4 days after birth. Jack had to undergo major abdominal surgery 5 days after birth for a resection of a section of small intestine due to perforation from early birth. He also suffered from a respiratory distress syndrome while he was in the NICU. Today he is 2 years old and loves to play and have fun with family and friends.

Participants can meet the Hermans at Brookdale Park on May 1. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with the walk kicking off at 9:00 a.m. For more information, visit marchforbabies.org.
