NJ Man Burglarized 2 Bloomfield Businesses On Same Day: Police

A Newark resident has been accused of burglarizing two Bloomfield businesses on the same day, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — An Essex County man has been accused of burglarizing two Bloomfield businesses on the same day, police announced Thursday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the same suspect – Raymond Santiago, 32, of Newark – was arrested in connection with both burglaries, which took place on Aug. 8.

NEW WAY MARKET - Officers responded to 144 Franklin Street (New Way Market) on report of a commercial burglary. According to the complainant, at 3:11 a.m., a blue Honda Accord pulled up and the driver exited the vehicle with a large pipe. The suspect broke the window to gain entry into the establishment and removed a cash drawer with $250 inside. Detectives were able to identify a suspect through video surveillance. The suspect, identified as Raymond Santiago, was charged with burglary and processed accordingly.

HAND CAR WASH - Officers responded to 111 Franklin Street (Hand Car Wash) on report of a commercial burglary. According to the complainant, at 3:17 a.m., a blue Honda Accord pulled up and the passenger exited the vehicle with an unknown object. The suspect broke the window to gain entry into the establishment and removed cash from the cash register. Detectives were able to identify a suspect through video surveillance. The suspect, identified as Raymond Santiago, was charged with burglary and processed accordingly.
