UPDATED: Postponed Halloween Did Not Miss A Trick!
See photos and video of Bloomfield schoolchildren celebrating Halloween!
As far as many kids were concerned, last weekend's bizarre October snowstorm did the unthinkable: postpone Halloween. For perhaps the first time in Bloomfield history, Halloween was celebrated in November.
But township officials felt they had no choice. They reasoned (and many parents agreed) it was too dangerous for kids to be walking at night with fallen trees and downed power lines still on the streets. The idea of Halloween in November took some getting used to, but it was perhaps the most sensible option amid power outtages, school closings and many families without heat and electricty.
Luckily, by today, November 4 - after a topsy-turvy week of no TV, sleeping in winter coats and dinners by candlelight -- life was getting back to normal. It was time for the kids to don their Halloween costumes and have some freaky Friday fun.
