“Our Robotics program has gained popularity, and many of our students are showing interest and excelling in some cases for the first time in their academic careers. This is something that most would agree should be encouraged. Students in our club love working. We find the best in everyone and make use of each other’s skills. Robotics is more than just building robots, and we like to make sure that all of our members know this. Our team is more than just a bunch of kids working together: We are friends, peers, and family. Working on a robot for six weeks non-stop with others stressing out as much as you are will bring you all the more closer. Sadly, much of the materials and supplies we need are costly, and our schoolwide fundraising efforts often fall short. Success for us means reaching the point where we can compete with other, more affluent schools on an even playing field where we engage in a sport of the mind and the challenges in problem-solving that will help define our futures and give us the potential to repay the kindness that has been bestowed upon us by our caring community.”
