St. Thomas School In Bloomfield Collects Shoes For A Good Cause
St. Thomas the Apostle School in Bloomfield held a drive to benefit people in developing nations, collecting more than 2,500 pairs of shoes.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — It was a feat for feet in Bloomfield.
Recently, St. Thomas the Apostle School in Bloomfield held a donation drive with Funds2Orgs to benefit people in developing nations, collecting more than 2,500 pairs of shoes.
Leveraging the good will of the local community, the school collected 105 bags, with 25 shoes in each bag, over a two-month period during the summer. The school also received a percentage from each bag of shoes collected, earning it more than $1,000 – a win-win situation for all involved.

“With COVID-19, we didn’t want to ask parents for money,” said Laurie Jesolosky, vice president of the Home and School Association. “We’re giving to a good cause and we’re also earning money for the school.”
Jesolosky said the donation drive went a little slow at first, but really picked up speed the last week.

“The kids, families and church families really came through,” Jesolosky said.
