STAYING HEALTHY AS FALL ARRIVES

It is a given that once fall arrives winter is not far behind. There are a few things everyone should do, no matter your age, to make sure you are all set for everything the weather has in store for you.

1. Avoid hypothermia by dressing warm and keeping dry. Dress accordingly when outside; hats protect you against
heat loss. Also wear non-slip shoes or boots with traction to avoid falls.

3. Talk with you medical professional regarding flu, pneumonia, and shingles inoculations needed.
4. Have someone check your home’s windows and doors for cracks to avoid heat loss. Close off unused rooms to conserve heat. Keep your thermostat at 65 degrees.
5. Cold air puts stress on the heart so before you do chores inside or out do some warm-up exercises, and take breaks. Have someone else shovel snow for you.
