Stolen Vehicles In Bloomfield: Car Left Running, Motorcycle Taken

BPD: An employee at an auto group left a $116,000 car running while he moved other vehicles. Read about two other local vehicle thefts.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police say three stolen vehicles were reported last week, including a theft at an auto group, a stolen motorcycle and a theft near Lackawanna Plaza.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

July 6 - A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a theft of motorcycle from the 100-block of Baldwin Street. The motorcycle was parked in the backyard of his residence overnight. The next morning, he noticed the motorcycle was missing. A review of surveillance video shows two male suspects pulling up in a U-Haul truck and taking the motorcycle, a 2020 blue Yamaha. The motorcycle was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

July 7 - Officers responded to 78 Bloomfield Avenue (Pristine Auto Group) on report of a motor vehicle theft. An employee was moving one of their vehicles onto Bloomfield Avenue and left it running as he was positioning other vehicles in the lot. A man entered the vehicle and fled the area. The vehicle is described as a black 2021 Mercedes S580 valued at $116,000. The incident was captured on surveillance video. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

July 10 - Officers responded to the area of 35 Lackawanna Plaza (Buy Rite) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner of the vehicle left his keys on the front seat while he went into the store. A witness observed two men enter the vehicle and flee the area. The vehicle, a black 2016 Chevy Suburban, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.
