Thieves Use Jack To Steal Expensive Car Part In Bloomfield: Police

A man lifted the victim's vehicle with a jack, while another man cut off the catalytic converter, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A catalytic converter theft was caught on video in Bloomfield last week, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to the area of La France Avenue on May 19 after getting a report about a theft involving the expensive car part.

Police said a resident provided video surveillance that shows a black, four-door sedan pull up to her vehicle. A man gets out of the passenger side of the vehicle and lifts her vehicle with a jack, while another male assists with cutting off the converter.
