Children’s Choir, ages 8-14

The Children’s Choir is holding open auditions on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., by appointment.

The Caldwell Children’s Choir is comprised of children ages 8 through 14, with unchanged voices, in grades 3 through 8.

Participants will learn to read and appreciate music using excellent vocal technique, proper posture, and appropriate breathing methods. They will become skilled singers through rehearsal and performance. The program includes the widely praised musical education approach of Kodaly and Orff Schulwerk.

According to Chair of the Music Department at Caldwell College, Dr. Nan Childress-Orchard, the choir program is a unique experience for children to grow musically and will provide a “wonderful opportunity for young people in grades 3 through 8 to experience the joy of singing with other talented students.”

Cable TV Show for High School Students

MSG Varsity’s Talent Show, a tri-state area television competition that selects winners based on audience votes, is accepting submissions for its second season premiering April 2012. 

Open to all high school students throughout Cablevision’s New York, New Jersey and Connecticut footprint, students can submit auditions online in four categories: male vocalist, female vocalist, vocal ensemble and dance ensemble.  Go to www.msgvarsitytalentshow.com through January 13, 2012.

Live auditions for individual male and female vocalists will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, January 10, at Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne.  Log onto www.msgvarsitytalentshow.com to sign up for an audition time.
