Woman Spit On, Kicked Officer After 2 Were Told Hurricane Harbor Was Closed For Day
Authorities say 2 women were charged with assaulting officers after refusing to leave when told the water park was closed for the day.

JACKSON, NJ — An Elizabeth woman is facing multiple charges after she kicked, bit and spit on officers after she and another woman were told the Hurricane Harbor was closed for the day and they needed to leave, Jackson police said Monday.
Kameron Serrano of Elizabeth was arrested July 3 and charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of resisting arrest, one count of criminal mischief, one count of obstruction and one count of getting bodily fluids on law enforcement officers, Jackson Sgt. Fred Meabe said.
Serrano and Synthea Gonzalez were refusing to leave the park and were arguing with security after being told the park was closed for the day, Meabe said.

Jackson police and Ocean County Sheriff's Officers responded to assist, but as they were attempting to defuse the situation, one of the women, Serrano, shoved a security officer, a sheriff's officer and Jackson Detective Derek Thomason while ignoring commands to calm down, Meabe said.
Serrano was arrested, but in the process she became combative, kicking officers and pulling her arms away so they could not handcuff her, and ignored repeated commands to comply, he said.

At the same time, sheriff's officers were arresting Gonzalez, Meabe and the sheriff's office said. Gonzalez, who was being held back while officers were arresting Serrano, turned and bit a sheriff's officer twice, the sheriff's office said. She was arrested as a result, the sheriff's office said. Serrano, meanwhile, kept fighting Jackson police. Meabe said officers had her handcuffed, but as they tried to get her off the ground, she started kicking, and kicked Thomason in the groin. She also spit at officers and tried to bite them in the ankles, he said.
Serrano kept fighting every attempt by the officers to move her, refusing to walk and dropping her body weight as officers tried to escort her out of the park, Meabe said.
Every effort to escort her was met with further combative behavior, Meabe said, including Serrano kicking Sgt. Joseph Candido in the stomach and kicking Thomason for a second time.
The commotion drew a crowd that was becoming more vocal, Meabe said, so additional officers including Jackson police, sheriff's officers and New Jersey State Police were called in. Once the area was more secure, Meabe said, police decided to carry Serrano out.
Serrano was flailing and spit in Candido's face, he said, and officers shifted so she couldn't spit in anyone else's face. Instead, Meabe said, she kicked a sheriff's officer in the head.
Meabe said they got her into a patrol car and Serrano was "uncooperative upon arrival."
Kameron Serrano was taken to the Ocean County Jail but released after a detention hearing, according to jail records.
Jackson police sustained minor injuries, he said.
