1. New Committee Aims To Address Challenges For Disabled In Brick (patch.com) — Brick residents with disabilities and their families are being invited to help shape a new Mayor's Advisory Council on Disabilities, aimed at boosting accessibility and inclusion across the township. The council, meeting quarterly at the municipal building, will include local residents, school and business representatives, and township officials, and is now seeking applicants by email starting Nov. 1.
2. Heavy Police Presence At Brick School Sparked By Swatting Call, Police Say (patch.com) — Police say Tuesday's heavy response around the Goddard School and nearby Emma Havens Young and Drum Point elementary schools in Brick stemmed from a non-credible swatting call. Officers stayed through dismissal and boosted patrols at surrounding schools, while similar hoaxes hit Howell and Wall, highlighting an unsettling trend of false threats disrupting local classrooms.
3. Lidl Opening Location In Toms River, NJ (wpst.com) — Ocean County shoppers who now drive to Lidl in Brick or Lanoka Harbor will soon have a closer option, as the discount grocer plans to move into the long-vacant former Foodtown on Route 37 in Toms River. A lease is signed for the 19,000-square-foot space, though no opening date has been announced yet.
4. No. 1 Donovan Catholic football stays unbeaten, showdown with No. 2 RBC next (app.com) — Shore Conference powerhouse Donovan Catholic stayed unbeaten with a 24-7 win over Point Pleasant Borough, setting up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown with Red Bank Catholic next week. The victory clinched at least a share of the divisional title, which Donovan Catholic shared last season with Brick Memorial, keeping Brick football fans closely tied to this year's race.
