Blue To You from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Brings Person to Person Customer Service To Your Hometown

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is on the move and may soon be delivering personal service to your home town, courtesy of a new, multi-purpose van and a customer service, member-focused initiative called "Blue to you."

The Horizon Blue to you mobile van made its first “official” appearance Tuesday during a special Lakewood BlueClaws event for Silver Sluggers and their families, where event participants were able to “kick the tires” on Horizon’s newest and innovative effort to bring services to New Jersey residents in their communities. The van will be traveling throughout Ocean County in the weeks and months ahead in service to Medicare Advantage members and Medicare eligible populations. The van serves as a pilot for developing new and innovative approaches that bring Horizon BCBSNJ services closer to its members.

“Blue to you is more than just a van, it’s a promise from Horizon to our members and the people of New Jersey that we are committed to serving our members better and dedicated to being more active in communities across the state,” said Joseph Albano, Vice President of Consumer and Senior Markets at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.  "Serving our 3.6 million members now means traveling to where they live and giving person to person service and health information to individuals, employers and seniors,” Albano noted.

The brand new, wheelchair accessible mobile van will be equipped with knowledgeable representatives, complete with technology to provide access to Web-based services for insurance information, conduct minor medical screenings, arrange medical appointments or transportation services, or address a claim issue right on the spot.

"Understanding and navigating through health insurance questions and issues can be an intimidating task for many people. The challenge will become all the more daunting as consumers begin to purchase coverage through the retail market when insurance exchanges arrive in 2014. The Blue to you initiative demonstrates our commitment to bring information, answers and face to face customer service to residents in New Jersey's communities, which we have been serving for nearly 80 years," Albano said.
