CLOSURES/CANCELATIONS
TUESDAY
All Brick Township schools are closed Tuesday.
Donovan Catholic High School is closed Tuesday.
St. Dominic School in Brick is closed Tuesday.
Ocean County College is opening at 11:30 a.m.
The Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools are closed.
MONDAY
The Brick Township School District has closed schools and canceled all activities for Monday.
The Ocean County YMCA Y-Kids program at Toms River schools is canceled Monday.
All Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools, including MATES and the Performing Arts Academy, are closed Monday. Auditions for the 2016-17 school year at the PAA auditions and the entrance exam for MATES that were canceled Saturday have been rescheduled for Jan. 30.
St. Dominic Elementary School is closed Monday.
Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River is closed Monday.
Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank is closed Monday.
St. Rose High School in Belmar is closed Monday.
St. John Vianney High School in Holmdel is closed Monday.
Georgian Court University in Lakewood is closed Monday.
Ocean County College in Toms River is closed Monday.
All Brick Township Recreation Preschool and Early Childhood programs are cancelled on Monday, Jan. 25.
All Brick Rec Basketball games and practices for Monday are canceled. Please check out the league website for make-up info.
GARBAGE/RECYCLING
Garbage and recycling collection will resume Monday. Residents with regular collections on Friday will be collected Monday; all other collections will be done on a one-day delay basis for the week.
As of 2:30 p.m. Sunday:
Brick Township police are telling residents who parked their vehicles at township parks to protect them from flooding need to remove them as soon as possible.
The noon high tide in the back bays appears to have passed without significant flooding.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday:
Brick Township Mayor John Ducey tweeted that township officials toured the town and that there has been no flooding anywhere.
Power is being restored but JCP&L says it is a slow process:
As of 1 p.m. Saturday:
The number of residents without power is now in the thousands; JCP&L has crews working on the Toms River substation and reports no flooding issues.
As of 9 a.m. Saturday:
Hundreds are without power in Brick, and estimates are that anywhere from 8 to 10 inches of snow has fallen. JCP&L has crews working to restore power.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department is telling people to stay off the roads because most are covered with a foot of snow and even four-wheel drive vehicles are getting stuck.
As of 1 p.m. Friday, Brick Township police are suggesting that residents of low-lying areas consider evacuating, because of the potential for flooding. The evacuations are not mandatory at this time.
CANCELLATIONS
In advance of the storm, the Brick Township schools have canceled all weekend activities scheduled in the district.
The SAT test administration scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, at Brick Memorial High School has been canceled. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20.
All Recreation Department activities scheduled for the weekend, including Challenger Bowling, the Lil’ Hoopsters and Bitty Basketball Clinics, and all recreation basketball games and practices have been cancelled.
Public Works garbage and recycling collections have been cancelled for Saturday. Collections scheduled for Saturday will be done on Monday. All collections will be delayed one day next week.
The annual rabies clinic scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 24 has been postponed until Sunday, Jan. 31. There will be a two-week grace period granted for license renewals.
Auditions for the Performing Arts Academy and the assessments for the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) for prospective 2016-17 students through the Ocean County Vocational Schools have been canceled.
CLOSINGS
The Public Works Recycling Center on Ridge Road will be closed Saturday.
The Ocean County Mall is closed Saturday.
Freehold Raceway Mall is closed Saturday.
Ocean County College is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Stockton University has closed its campuses Saturday and Sunday.
Monmouth University is closed Saturday and Sunday.
Brookdale Community College is closed Saturday and Sunday.
REMINDERS/TIPS
Residents in low-lying areas may park their cars for the duration of the storm at the Drum Point Sports Complex, Hibbard Youth Baseball Complex, 56 Tiller Lane), and Boland Youth Baseball Complex, 2000 Lanes Mill Road. Please note, these areas will be cleared once all streets are cleared. You will also need to be prepared to clear snow from around your vehicle after the storm.
Residents are reminded to assist by removing snow from fire hydrants and storm drains during winter weather.
