Brick Coronavirus Updates: Restaurant Openings, Field Rentals
As hair salons and other businesses prepare to open this week, take a look at what's happening in Brick.

BRICK, NJ — Folks who have been waiting for hair cuts and manicures are finally able to get them on Monday, after more than three months of closures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The opening of those businesses and other activities, including the resumption of non-contact sports activities, are some of the highlights this week as Gov. Phil Murphy continues to relax the restrictions that have been in place in efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
So far, there have been 169,124 cases of the coronavirus in New Jersey, and 12,870 have died as a result of COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, according to the state Department of Health. In Ocean County, there have been 9,395 cases, including 1,168 in Brick. There have been 850 deaths in the county, including 126 in Brick. Township officials have said the majority of the deaths have been in long-term care facilities.

The pace of the growth in cases and the pace in the number of deaths has slowed significantly, which has resulted in the relaxation of restrictions.

MUNICIPAL OFFICES: Town Hall is open to the public but all visitors must wear a mask. Residents are urged to conduct as much business as possible online.
SCHOOLS: The Brick Township School District held virtual graduations for Brick and Brick Memorial high schools on Friday. In-person graduations are tentatively scheduled for early July.
RESTAURANTS AND BARS: Restaurants and bars began offering outdoor dining last week. More than 20 in Brick had gotten permits from the township to offer it. Read more: Brick Restaurants Get Ready For Outdoor Dining

PARKS AND CAMPS: Brick has scheduled its day camp to begin Aug. 3; it will be held at four parks in the township. Information about registration can be found here.
The township's parks and beaches are open, but the playgrounds remain closed by order of Murphy's office.
OTHER BUSINESSES: Brick is offering field availability at the Havens Farm property for dance companies, yoga and other businesses to hold classes outdoors.
