Brick To Honor Its Fallen Heroes At April 27 Event

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township officials are inviting the public to join them for a ceremony on Saturday, April 27, to pay tribute to residents who went off to war in the U.S. armed forces and never came home alive.

The program is called Brick's Fallen Heroes, and it will honor 18 men who were killed while serving, from the U.S. Civil War to Iraq.

The program was first put together last year by William J. Duffy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867. His research turned up 16 names initially of soldiers who died who hailed from Brick. Two others have been added as a result of his ongoing efforts.

The ceremony on April 27 will be held at Windward Beach Park and is set to begin at 11 a.m.

Some of men's names are memorialized at the township's War Memorial at the municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road; Duffy found others through his research.
